Alan Peppard: Boardwalk Car Show features new and old models

Occasionally, it's comforting to escape through the looking glass to a world where no one mentions the word recession. Saturday morning, the Boardwalk Car Show was one such place.
No one visiting the Boardwalk Ferrari and Maserati dealership in Plano appeared concerned about their 401(k)s.
Inside, guests looked at new treats such as the $300,000-plus Ferrari 612. Outside, enthusiasts walked the lawn to see dozens of classic cars such as a 1974 V12 Jaguar XKE, a teal 1959 Ford Anglia just like the flying version from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and lots and lots of Ferraris.
Dallasite Neal Hawks brought his super-fast, all electric Tesla sports car. It goes 0 to 60 in under four seconds using only battery power.
Among the visitors were fresh produce king Lucian LaBarba and Ferrari owners such as jeweler Denis Boulle and restaurateur Javier Gutierrez.
Boardwalk Ferrari owner Scott Ginsburg was feeling sprightly as he greeted guests with his wife, Gina, and their young sons, William and Jonathan.
In the cloistered and controlled world of Ferrari dealers, Scott has just been given the rare accolade of more territory.
The overlords at Ferrari recently gave a nod, and on Aug. 20, Scott closed on his purchase of Ferrari of San Francisco and its affiliated Maserati dealership.
