Visitors to the Winspear Opera House can't miss the signs marking the Shannon and Ted Skokos Stage. Who is this fellow Ted Skokos who goes around with his wife, a former Miss Arkansas, committing acts of philanthropy?

He used to be an attorney and later a wireless tycoon. But earlier this month, the Dallasite was living his dream of speeding his Ferrari 430 down the track in Valencia, Spain, in the Ferrari World Finals of the North America Dealer Team Championship.

Ted and Oklahoma financier Scott Tucker were the two drivers who brought home the first-place trophy for Plano-based Boardwalk Ferrari.

Each year, Ferrari dealerships around the country field drivers to compete against each other in 14 races throughout the season.

Boardwalk Ferrari was responsible for preparing Ted and Scott's cars, safely transporting the vehicles to the venue (no small endeavor) and providing the pit crew.

"Our strategy this year was to focus on two drivers and their cars, and it clearly paid off," says Boardwalk owner Scott Ginsburg, who was the one member of the team not in Spain for the victory.

Instead, he and his wife, Gina, were in Dallas with sons Drew and William celebrating the first birthday of their son Jonathan.
